with Cathy Moran Hajo
Monday, February 7 @ 7:30 pm
Zoom Presentation- Registration required (see below).
Looking at the settlement of people in Mahwah over its long history, you see the history of the United States in small-scale. From the earliest settlement of Native Americans, colonization by Dutch and British settlers, and waves of 19th and 20th century European travelers, diverse cultures shaped the town, its development, its churches, and its businesses. This talk will look at the different groups that made Mahwah a unique and diverse community, focusing on its founding to 1940.
Cathy Moran Hajo is a historian and scholarly editor who directs the Jane Addams Papers Project at Ramapo College of New Jersey. She is the Vice President and Archives Director of the Mahwah Museum and lived in town for over 40 years. She has a Ph.D. in History from New York University.
