Keepers of the Pass: The Ramapough Lenape Indians
By: Edward J. Lenik
Keepers of the Pass: The Ramapough Lenape Indians continues the exploration of evidence of a continuous Indian presence in Northern New Jersey and Southeastern New York begun in Ed Lenik’s two earlier works, Indians in the Ramapos and Ramapough Mountain Indians. In this volume Lenik again draws on history and archeology to discuss places, practices, folkways and life-ways that testify “We Are Still Here.” Edward J. Lenik is a regional archaeologist whose research interest is firmly focused on the human history of the northeastern United States and Atlantic Canada. He is a past president of the Archaeological Society of New Jersey and the Eastern States Archaeological Federation and author of a number of books on the archaeology of this area. His books on Native American rock art in the Northeast are well known.
